Hollie Clifton: Building Bridges for the Next Generation

Some of the most meaningful collaborations begin with a simple question: What if we connected the people who have already walked this path with the students who are just beginning it?

For Corbin High School alumna Hollie Clifton, that question has turned into an exciting new opportunity for the next generation of Redhounds.

Hollie, currently in her final year of medical school at the University of Kentucky, recently reached out to one of her former teachers with an idea: What if Corbin High School created a network of former students who have gone on to careers in the medical field and made them available to mentor current students in the PLTW Biomedical Science pathway?

The idea quickly began to take shape.

This week, Hollie shared a growing list of Corbin alumni who are now working in healthcare. The list includes nurses, physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals representing an impressive range of specialties, including neurology, obstetrics, ENT, trauma surgery, dermatology, dentistry, pediatrics, and more.

But the list is about more than names and careers. It represents a collection of people who once sat in the same classrooms, walked the same hallways, and wondered what their own futures might hold.

Now, they have an opportunity to turn around and help the students coming behind them.

The hope is to continue growing this network of PLTW Biomedical Science alumni so that current students can connect with professionals in a wide variety of healthcare fields. Through mentorship, conversations, career exploration, and shared experiences, students will have opportunities to learn directly from people who have already made the journey from Corbin High School into the medical profession.

And Hollie's vision is only the beginning.

What makes this effort especially meaningful is that it is rooted in collaboration at every level...

A former student is partnering with her former school.

Alumni will connect with current students.

Professionals will share their experiences with future professionals.

And together, they are creating something that can continue to grow for years to come.

Hollie's willingness to give back to the school that helped shape her own journey is a powerful reminder that the Redhound Way doesn't end at graduation.

Sometimes, the greatest way to move forward is to reach back and bring someone else with you.

Hollie has already begun building that bridge.
