The Corbin Board of Education approved effective with the 2005-2006 calendar one additional day for Professional Development. We are striving to provide quality on-going professional development and view professional development as a means to support instructional change and continuous improvement among staff members. Effective staff development increases the classroom teacher’s ability to provide a challenging, developmentally-appropriate curriculum based on desired skill and knowledge outcomes for all students. Professional Development is determined through a comprehensive needs assessment process that targets areas identified for improvement. It is essential that professional development be data driven. Student data must be analyzed on the basis of socioeconomic level, race, and gender, students with and without disabilities, etc. Such an analysis is critical to helping staff recognize the need for improvement. |
