Situated at the junction of three counties in southeastern Kentucky, Corbin, is in a very unique position. Nestled at the edge of the Daniel Boone National Forest, Corbin's boundaries straddle two counties and border a third, yet it is not the county seat of any of the three. However, because of its proximity to I-75, U.S. 25, U.S. 25W and U.S. 25E Corbin serves as the crossroads for the Tri-County area which includes Whitley, Laurel and Knox Counties. Corbin is best known for its relationship with the railroad, which helped establish the town at the turn of the 20th Century. CSX is still a major employer in the area, but Corbin has a broad economic base including several large manufacturing facilities and a healthy retail-wholesale and service-oriented business climate.

Located in scenic southeastern/south-central Kentucky, Corbin, "Hub of the Valley of Parks," is just a short drive to many recreation areas and tourist attractions such as Cumberland Falls, Laurel River Lake, Big South Fork, Pine Mountain and Cumberland Gap to name a few.

Entertainment opportunities abound in Corbin ranging from an annual Fine Arts series to the NIBROC Festival to the Kentucky Fried Chicken museum. Hunting, boating, fishing, camping and other sport activities can be found year-round.

Corbin is located between Knoxville, TN and Lexington, KY (approximately 80 miles from each) on I-75.  Corbin's population is 8,500 with 17,558 living in the urban cluster that includes Corbin.

The City of Corbin is governed by a mayor and city commission with day to day operations handled by the city manager. The city offers complete police and fire protection and is served by two ambulance services. The city is promoted by the local Chamber of Commerce, Office of Economic Development, and Corbin Tourism Commission. A number of service organizations are located in Corbin as well as branches of all major religious denominations. The city oversees two parks as well as boasting a recreation center, civic center, and new regional Technology Center.
