The Corbin Independent School District, incorporated in 1902, strives to be the best school system it can possibly be by maintaining a tradition of high academics, student success, and ever-expanding extracurricular programs. The district is located in Corbin, Kentucky (southeastern Kentucky).  (For more information click on the About the Corbin Area Tab on the main page.)

Ranking as one of the larger Independent School Districts, the student population of over 2,500 includes preschool through twelfth grade.  The district has 6 schools:  Corbin Preschool Center, Corbin Primary (K-2), Corbin Elementary (3-4), Corbin Intermediate (5-6)Corbin Middle School (7-8), Corbin High School (9-12).

Our schools have consistently ranked high in the state's testing program.  Corbin Independent Schools ranked 3rd in the state on the last Commonweath's Accountability Test (CATS).  All schools have met and exceeded their testing goals and have met Adequate Yearly Progress.  In several content areas, Corbin is ranked in the top 5 percent of all schools in Kentucky.   The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredit Corbin Schools for current and past academic achievement.

Recently Corbin High School was named a national Model School, the first and only school in the state of Kentucky to have achieved this honor.

Our school district boundaries extend beyond the city limits of Corbin. In addition to serving the city of Corbin and part of Knox County, the school district extends south into Whitley County including several outlying subdivisions and rural areas. The district is also bordered by Laurel County.
