The Corbin Independent School District, incorporated in 1902, strives to be the best school system it can possibly be by maintaining a tradition of high academics, student success, and ever-expanding extracurricular programs. Ranking as one of the larger Independent School Districts, the student population of over 2,600 includes preschool through twelfth grade.  The district has 6 schools:  Corbin Preschool Center, Corbin Primary (K-2), Corbin Elementary (3-4), Corbin Intermediate (5-6)Corbin Middle School (7-8), Corbin High School (9-12).

Our schools have consistently ranked high in the state's testing program.  Corbin Independent Schools ranked 4th in the state (K-12 school districts) on the state 2008-2009 KCCT (KY Core Content Testing). 

Corbin High School received the 2008-2009 Award of Excellence as Kentucky's outstanding 21st Century Community Learning Center

--Corbin Middle School ranked 4th in the state on the state 2008-2009 KCCT (KY Core Content Testing)   

--The Corbin Elementary/Primary Redhound Enrichment Program was named the national recipient of the Johns Hopkins University Excellence in Summer Learning Award

--Corbin's two Odyssey of the Mind teams finished 3rd & 5th in the state

--Corbin High School was named one of 25 "Model High Schools" in the country and the ONLY one from Kentucky!

-- Corbin School District's Communications Career Academy provides students with hands-on experience in the communications field.  From print media and television newscasts to a 100-watt radio station (Redhound Radio WRHR 95.3 FM) and family movie theatre, the program is growing and evolving.

The Association of Colleges and Schools accredit Corbin Schools for current and past academic achievement.

Our school district boundaries extend beyond the city limits of Corbin. In addition to serving the city of Corbin and part of Knox County, the school district extends south into Whitley County including several outlying subdivisions and rural areas. The district is also bordered by Laurel County.
