THE SCHOOL PLAN

 


The district Consolidated Plan and Funding Application represents the culmination of the consolidated planning process by the school and district.  It serves as the application for funds for the federal and state categorical programs identified on page 3 of the guidebook.

The needs were determined by analyzing test scores and from Making Schools Work Technical Assistance Visit.

 

 

 

ü    How were goals and strategies decided upon?

 

The Comprehensive School Improvement Plan Committee decided upon goals and strategies in each of the areas as indicated by the key findings.

 

 

 

ü    What is the plan expected to achieve?

 

Student achievement will increase as indicated by CATS, teacher observations and assessment and positive indications from stakeholders.

 

 

ü    How was public comment secured and what was the response from the school?

 

Reports on the Comprehensive Improvement Plan and achievement gaps will be presented at each SBDM meeting.

 

 

ü    How will consolidated planning be ensured in the future?

 

      Updates on the plan will be presented at each SBDM meeting and to the Board every three months.  Responsible

      persons will present in detail  what has been implemented and its effect on student achievement.

 

COMMUNICATION PLAN

 

ü    How will the consolidated plan and other important information be shared with stakeholders?

 

       It will be shared at department, faculty, parent and Council meetings and through newsletters and media.

Document on alignment in humanities, practical living and writing will be completed in 2004-05 and distributed to teachers before the beginning of the 2005-06 school year.  Teachers will continue to meet with departments during Wednesday afternoon meetings to refine alignment.  Teachers will also continue to meet in interdisciplinary groups to further refine alignment.  Vocabulary will be identified in each subject

Gaps in curriculum – Program of Studies and Core Content- will be eliminated.  Teachers will know when and what is to be taught.  Consistency in vocabulary from teacher to teacher will improve student connections and achievement.
